More information

Looking to build your winter walking skills in a supportive, inclusive environment? This 3-Day Winter Walking and Skills Course in Scotland is designed specifically for women and underrepresented groups, including people of colour and LGBTQIA+ adventurers. Whether you're new to winter walking or want to refine your skills, this course offers the perfect blend of learning, fun, and exploration of Scotland’s most breathtaking mountain ranges. Over the course of three days, you’ll not only develop essential winter mountain skills but also put them into practice as we journey together through the stunning Cairngorms. The goal is to empower you with the knowledge and confidence to safely enjoy winter adventures, while creating a welcoming space where everyone feels supported. What to Expect: You'll learn key winter skills, including how to move efficiently on snow and ice, how to walk in crampons, and how to use an ice axe for self-arrest. We’ll also cover winter navigation techniques, helping you understand how to safely plan routes and make good decisions in challenging conditions. Avalanche and Weather Awareness: we will look at how to assess winter weather and avalanche risks, giving you the confidence to evaluate conditions for yourself. Journeying in the Mountains: each day, we’ll venture into the mountains, applying what you’ve learned as we explore this magnificent winter landscape. By combining skills training with real-world practice, you’ll get a well-rounded experience of what it’s like to navigate and walk in winter conditions. Throughout the course, I will provide personalised guidance, ensuring that everyone feels confident and supported, regardless of their background or experience level. Our small group size creates a friendly and inclusive atmosphere, where you can connect with other like-minded women and adventurers from underrepresented communities. Why Join? Learn in a Supportive Space: I am committed to creating an inclusive environment where women and underrepresented folks can thrive and feel comfortable. You’ll be surrounded by people who share your passion for the outdoors, creating an empowering and encouraging space to learn. Develop Confidence and Community: Not only will you leave with a solid foundation of winter skills, but you’ll also have the chance to meet new friends and be part of a welcoming community of outdoor enthusiasts. 7th to 9th February Glencoe 7th to 9th March Cairngorms
