This course is accredited by Mountain Training, running on two days from 9am to approximately 5pm Who is this for? This course is aimed at beginners that would like to gain the fundamental skills to be able to go out and safely enjoy time in the hills. This course is a safe space for women, non-binary and transgender to learn, get skilled up, walk in the hills and enjoy nature. What we will be learning? Planning Walking skills Clothing and equipment Weather Navigation in the hills Environmental knowledge Hazards and emergency procedures in the hills What do I need to bring? A rucksack Warm layers (and a spare in your bag) Waterproof top and bottom Boots Gloves and a warm hat Minimum 1 litre of water, and/or hot drink in a flask for cold days. Packed lunch Travel prayer mat Bring your own map and compass if you have one. Please email if you'd like to borrow anything. Extra Funding Mountain training can provide some funding for the above courses (50% of median cost). This fund supports people from ethnically diverse backgrounds who face barriers to participation and are therefore significantly under-represented and less engaged with all Mountain Training qualifications, and skills courses.
