This course is accredited by Mountain Training, running for two days (non-residential) from 9am to approximately 5pm Who is this for? This course is aimed at folks that have some experience in the mountains and would like to develop your skills. The course will start with a short planning session and an opportunity to get to know others on the course. Then we will be spending two days in the mountains, learning and practising all the skills that will allow us to walk off marked path on rougher, more mountainous ground. The days out on the mountain will be approximately 5 to 6 hours and require a good level of fitness (although they'll be plenty of stops). What we will be learning? Planning Walking skills Clothing and equipment Weather Navigation in the hills Environmental knowledge Hazards and emergency procedures in the hills What do I need to bring? A rucksack Warm layers (and a spare in your bag) Waterproof top and bottom Boots Gloves and a warm hat Minimum 1 litre of water, and/or hot drink in a flask for cold days. Packed lunch Travel prayer mat Bring your own map and compass if you have one. Please email if you'd like to borrow anything. Where will we meet?
